What would people recommend as a cheaper tripod head, that I can mount my Markins QR onto - my cameras have RRS plates, and my Q3T has the RRS quick release clamp.

The most weight it'll need to take will be a camera sans-grip, and a 24-70L lens. I've already got the Markins Q3T, but now have a second set of legs - that needs a head for my hubby to use when we're in town. I don't care what the head weights.

Any ideas?

How about getting the Manfroto 488 head. You can remove their clamp and add yours.

I like my Flashpoint F-1 from Adorama as a second head ... comes with Arca Swiss QR assembly.

It is possible to remove the clamp? My local shop told me it wasn't....but then I haven't had much luck with correct advice from local shops.

Yes, it is. It just screws on. For that matter, you could buy the 488 without any quick release, take the base plate off that and mount the Markins and save even more.
