what monitor to buy

Hi there.
I recently upgraded my ps to canon 5dm2, and also upgraded my CPU to vista . But my monitor is 4 y old.

What monitor do you suggest ?
I was wondering may be I should get a good monitor where I could see the photos good , and do some photo editing, ie what you see in the monitor is what you get.

Any suggestions, brands, websites I could read up on, I have no idea where to start.

My friend asked me to buy a 32 inch LCD TV LG that cost around 300 bugs. But is this good for digital photography and editing and viewing my pcitures.
