I am interested in purchasing a Canon Digital Rebel XT, but am hesitant because I'm having trouble finding photography courses in the Nashville, TN area. I have found one at Wolf Camera, but you have to purchase the camera there and I can save a lot by buying online. I found one at a community college, but it's for film only, and every other search I do I come up with nothing. Anyone from the Nashville area that can help, or can anyone ingeneral point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

A film course would be GREAT. You will learn alot about expose and camera controls. But then, you have the expense of getting a film camera.
You can learn about your camera from it's manual.
You can learn about photography from the internet: websites, usenet, and forums. Also from books from the library or bookstore.
There are also camera clubs you can join. They are a mixed blessing though. Peoples opinion of pictures vary.
Photography "expertise" is "technical" and "creative". Anyone can learn the books and the cameras, lighting, etc....the technical side.
Creative....takes practice and input from others. And a lot of self-critisism.
With a digital camera you can take LOTS of pictures. You have to learn to see the world in a creative manner....pick up the camera and "flip the creative switch in your brain". Take LOTS of pictures, and just view the result on your camera.
Don't let a lack of learning resources in your area stop you from learning to take pictures. Find places to go and go there again and again. Zoos, gardens, events, nature, parks, even your backyard.
DO IT!

why can't you take the film course?
is it only for processing and not taking the pics?
if it is about taking pics i would sign up for it. as that camera has manual controls to it.
around here i had to check with community education to find class's. just check with the local chamber of commerce.
