I have two batteries, a Canon BP511 and a generic that I use in my Drebel with the battery grip. They are both about 16 months old. I am finding that after about 150 shots the battery charge is down to 1 bar. This seem to be kind of low. I have never completely drained the batteries so I don't know how many more shots I can get on one bar. Should I be getting more shots out of my batteries??
Thanks
John

Yes, you should expect several hundred shots on a charge. However, the numbers will change a lot depending on how you use the LCD and some other factors.
I had my first original Canon battery that worked good. Then I bought a Lenmar battery, and it seemed like I could never get as much out of it. After two years of use, the Lenmar seemed to get better, which is exactly the opposite of what most users see.
Most of these batteries have an expected life of 300 charge cycles. They don't just suddenly go dead, but the capacity is supposed to fade off after a lot of use like that. I am not aware of anybody who keeps track of how many charge cycles they have put on each battery, so I guess it doesn't matter that much.
The newer batteries (e.q. BP-511A) seem to have a third more capacity than the old ones.

have you installed the wasia hack by chance...some say that the battery indicates a false low battery signal with the hack installed. which i personally think they are right in their theory because mine does the same thing while the battery will last forever. i shot over 330 shots the other day with out a problem.
