Hello every one! This is my First post in this Forum; I just registered today. I am looking forward to meeting & networking with as many Professionals as possible. In this dying economy, I have found my self Unemployed & relying on my Camera along with my Passion for and love of Art & Photography to try and make some extra income. In the past I shot Sports & Modeling professionally for a magazine that is published world wide... so I have had a little bit of experience and a taste of what the professional photography industry feels like...

I find my self here how ever experimenting with all new directions and types of Photography. I was in a local Pet store this past week and a little old lady had a table set up with her idea of "Pet Portr
aits and photography" so naturally once i got my bag of Dog food for my better half (my 9 month old Female Boxer, named Molly) the wheels started spinning... Since then I have called up every family member and friends in my Cell phone asking if I could photograph their Beloved Pets. I feel I am getting a decent amount of material, I would love another professionals feedback too though! Good or bad!

Please remember, I am a in studio Fitness & Fashion model... I am doing my best trying to shoot the animals, but as we all know in this business a lot of times the key to a good shoot is the cooperation of the model/subject matter!

Silly Watermark?

Yeah it's silly until you see your image used without your consent. Watermark everything that you put online, it's not perfect but it's a great start.

Thank you so much for the feed back & I hate to have to agree with you about the Watermark, because i don't like covering up my work, BUT after using Forums in the past to network & share my personal projects and eventually have my work ripped off & have others try to claim my work at their own I am forced to cover up the majority of my Images to at LEAST try and deture a potential SHAMELESS PAOCHING THEIF from trying to pass my art off as their own.

Thank you for the kind words & sticking up for my ridiculous Water mark. lol i'm glad you see the importance of maintaining ownership of your blood, sweat and tears as an artist.

I am looking forward to getting up and rolling with in the forum!

Since we're talking about the WM, I couldn't agree more with having it on there. Do what ya gotta do.

Re the photos, I'm not a fan of selective colouring but I quite like the pink tongue one.

The last one is my fave. Love those ears!! Have you cropped it? I'd like to see a little more room around the edges but understand sometimes you just get what you get when a dog's hurtling toward you :)

I'm guessing you had the centre focus point on? Looks like the focus is on her chest.

Good job with a difficult subject, IMHO.

What lens did you use for the first one?

Not the best photos. Taken with an old Canon A95. Bad focus on the last one.. My guy either won't sit still or wants to lick the camera. Top is of Kona (2 years old, possibly American Bulldog/Boxer mix as we picked up him off Craigslist) at a graffiti wall in Seattle and middle is of him at Crater Lake, Oregon. The bottom is of Buddy who passed away at 14 years old 2 years ago. She was a purebred.

Love the one of your dog running. I keep on meaning to start watermarking mine as some people have found my photo's being used by others on websites stating that they were theres. One photo was of a male and someone had used this photo and said that it was a female and talked about her pups etc. It's amazing what a dog can do these days especially as said dog had been dead for quite a while to!

First off, welcome to the forum. I have Boxers, too. They are a great breed.

Instead of the huge watermark, try putting your signature somewhere on the bottom of the picture. It'll identify the photo as yours without the distraction of the copyright logo.

Where are you from? I notice you type with alot of words starting with Capitol Letters Like This and it piqued my curiosity. Some European langues do that, so I'm just being nosy. :)
