Trying the blurred water for the first time. Had to wait for the light to dim down at the water level so the shutter speed was nice and slow. Wish Canon would come up with an ISO 25 :) Tripods and big boulders are a challenging mix.

Try a neutral density filter...or a polarizing filter. You'll lose a stop or so, plus you'll cut out a lot of the reflection from the water. :)

Yes. My shopping list will include that and a right angle finder. I felt like Spiderman trying to brace myself on the rocks and look through the viewfinder.

Yeah, a scope helps a lot when the tripod is low to the ground. For long exposures in broad daylight I usually stack an ND8 with a CPL. That will get the shutter speed way down to where I can use ISO 200 or more, depending on the effect I want. It also means I can keep all detail in the highlights, which are the most at risk in these types of shots.

It doesn't quite look sharp to me, and there's a strange waxiness to the rocks at left that's unappealing. f/22 is a problem... you lose sharpness due to diffraction. You'd normally want it kept to around f/8 or f/11 unless you really need massive depth of field, but I appreciate you'd done that to allow a slower shutter speed. The blown, yellowish area at the top is distracting. You've done your best in the difficult shooting conditions, and clearly you've got the water blur you wanted (if a touch overexposed) but it's not a work of art. I think 1/2 a second is a bit slower than you actually need to get a reasonable blur there. I assume the horizon is very severely tilted...? - not that it matters really. Hopefully, a few things to think about next time you try it, maybe at a darker time of day. Cheers, Tony
