A very good friend was married on Saturday. While I was not the wedding photographer (thankfully) I could not help but take a shot or two.

How do you know the "friend" isn't the bride? ;)
Very nice pictures, especially #2.
I also love the expressions in #3.

I wish I had a photographer friend at my wedding like you. I like the 3rd one, but I like the second one more just because of the candid facial expressions not posed. It's like they are going someplace (metaphorical speaking).

Number 2 is awesome! Maybe you can photoshop that guy out of the picture!

Actually, my friend is the groom. A sort of semi-adopted son discovered on an internet discussion board (long story). My wife described this as "the sweetest wedding every" - almost the antithesis of what weddings are expected to be. No groomsmen or bridesmaids, no flowers, a wedding dress made by mom, instead of "here comes the bride" it was "will you marry me Bill?", no hassles no problems just two young people focused on the step they were taking.

That's my kind of wedding! They probably actually enjoyed it.

Good pictures and lovely bride.

No 1, especially, came out well as it was taken against a bright sky and could so easily have resulted in underexposure on her face.

She is one lovely lady. I like #1 (color and her expression) and #3 (posed but great expressions on both). #2 is very nice, just too much background clutter for my liking. Photos look really good.

The reason I like #2 the best is because it is a perfect example of a nice situational in which the subjects are shown in context, as opposed to the usual, sterile wedding photo.

man, shot #2 is one of the best wedding shots I've seen!!! Too bad the guy with the baby is in the background... Otherwise, I would say that this would sell a crapload on stock photo sites!

Awesome pics man!

those shots are fantastic, maybe you should have been the official photographer for them :)

If you don't mind, what camera/lens did you use and what kind of settings? I'd be interested in getting a similar "look" in some of my outdoor shots

Thanks for all the replies - the bride and groom are very pleased with the pictures I took (as well as their parents).

These were were all take with a 20D and a Tamron 28-75 @ ISO 200 in AV mode @ f5.0. I wanted to makes sure I had sufficient DOF. #1 was @ 75mm, #2 @28mm and #3 @35mm.

cool, thanks for that info... this continues to make that Tamron look more and more tempting

The tamron is a sweet lens. It and my 85 1.8 are my two favorite lens. The tamron was the primary choice because I was somewhat limited by my ability to "foot" zoom that day.

For those commenting on the "happy" factor - if every wedding were like this one they would be a whole lot more enjoyable. Everyone certainly appeared to have enjoyed this one
