Hey everyone,
Well some may remember back to when I posted this:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=603495

I got some great help and some not so great help but I could see were people were coming from when a sixteen year old would be shooting his first wedding with no previous experience.

All in all everything went absolutely amazing and I am very proud of myself and am happy I went with it. Although I did have to shoot all on camera flash because my Cybersyncs were acting up and both my strobes would not fire when off camera.

Thanks to everyone who did help and encouraged me.
C&C is welcome.

If anyone is interested more are on my blog here:
http://scottbakerphotography.blogspot.com/

So without further ado, my first wedding...
Jessica & Justin Snyder

Fantastic! And you're only 16!? Wow! No one would ever know it was your first wedding :)
All wonderful images, but the rings on the piano is the money shot for me :)

You're just dying to go "neener neener " to the naysayers now aren't you.. lol

I'm not only impressed with your work, but the fact you didn't "act" like a kid when faced with the negativity surrounding your endeavor.

I agree.. the rings on the piano shot.. awesome.

wow kid..... you got some serious talent!

they were only trying to help you, and I would've agreed without knowing your talent that it would'nt have been the best idea for you to do it. I would say you'd be in the 0.000001% 16yr olds who could actually pull this off.

You've got an incredible talent already, not only in composition and creating an image with visual impact photographically, but also your image knowledge and post processing looks to be very a-grade. It'll be interesting to see if you become a master or burn out early. I'm thinking the first.

No problem.... I'm 28, and don't show the quality that you produce!
That just shows you that age, for the most part, is just a #. Some people were just born to do certain things, and you were definitely born to be a photographer.

Julie I took a look at your website and are you kidding me and yourself about quality? You are an absolute amazing photographer who produces outstanding quality.
I hear you about age, I'm just always hesitant when it comes to potential clients to let them know my age. I want them to book me for my quality and not be turned off by my age.

Thanks again for your compliments. I do plan on making this my life career and I hope I make it into NYU or RIT for photography and business.

Well thank you! :)
I know you'll get into whatever college you strive for.... it would be a shame to the photography world, otherwise.

AS far as age goes, it will work against you for a while..... Like I said, I'm 28, and I still get people who are turned off by that..... If you're younger than the people who are hiring you, generally (not ALWAYS), they seem to think of you as still a kid. Atleast in my experience, anyways.... plus I look younger than I am, so that doesn't help me, either ;)

Either way, your work speaks for itself ;)

And yes in some of my experience to I may get a laugh or two but I try and brush it off.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Good job mate. Hopefully you get some recommendations and a few more jobs coming! I shot my sister's wedding last year at 16 but it was terrible. I wish I knew as much then as I do now, as well as having the gear (or lenses at least) to get the job done

Lol I dont want to be arrogant, all I can say is that I am proud of myself for still continuing. It was a wonderful experience which I would love and plan to do again. My next wedding I know of is scheduled for July 2_, 2009. I'm shooting my aunts wedding on Camano Island on a beautiful nature preserve. I am so excited about that one. This wedding was very nice, but it was traditional (or atleast the cermeony) because I had to shoot about twenty different groups on the alter and only had a short time to shoot the bride and groom elsewhere. But my aunt and her HTB are very non traditional and are with the style I strive to shoot. So it should be an aweseom wedding as well as this one.

Thanks again for the opinion on the shot. :D

#1 watch yellows (flowers) as they blow out easily. I really like to do these shots with very directional light, like side or backlight.

#2 no complaints, good environmental shot with no great strengths or weaknesses.

#3 good body language and timing, might center them more or even draw them closer to an edge and zoom out for rule-of-thirds shot.

#4 interesting idea and good light, not sure how well the rings stand out against the white piano keys. In future shots I think it helps to try to give significance/association with the wedding by using bouquets, flowers, notes/words, or other things related to the wedding itself as foreground or background.

#5 neither good nor bad, might not have cropped the top of the sign off.

#6 neutral again, possibly try it off-centered and watch the other things in the frame like the bouquet.

#7 good timing, good light, her fingers are cut off and I'm not sure whether the lights on the top right are good or bad.

#8 good timing and good light again, no complaints about overall composition nor suggestions to improve it. If in the future an edge light can be acquired to give background separation, it would enhance shots like this.

Good job with good light; can you do it again?

And no I put my foot down on charging because it was my first time and I had no previous experience nor know how they would turn out. I decided to make it a wedding gift as I would have been a guest if I was not the pro photog there. I think I would feel more confident in charging next time though.
