When shooting ceremonies I feel like I am missing a big part of whats going on due to my limited vantage point because of the sites restrictions. I'd like to place a remotely operated camera somewhere to capture the angle of the couple and officiant. Has anyone ever tried this with good success? I'd found a wireless trigger (http://www.amazon.com/Zap-Shot-ZS-2-Wireless-Frequency-Shutter/dp/B000JL8QHE) on amazon that I think might work. It's called a zap-shot.

I do remember reading a thread about this, it might be in the lighting forum. I'm considering doing it with my skyports (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/505381-REG/Elinchrom_EL_19360_EL_Skyport_Universal_Radio_Slav e.html/BI/2312/KBID/3114) one day.

I'm gonna do it once I sell my 10D and move to a second body that's Skyport compatible.

After some research I've found what looks to be a good remote for the job. http://cgi.ebay.com/Cleon-Wireless-Remote-C6-for-Canon-Rebel-XT-XTi-XSi-XS_W0QQitemZ120394719169QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_ Cables_Cords?hash=item120394719169&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50#ebayphotohosting

I am definitely going to try this at my next event. Only thing I foresee as being an issue would be shutter noise if I have to place the camera relatively close to the couple (i'd be using my rebel xt). I wonder if there is someway to insulate it so that it produces less noise when the shutter is released. hmmmm

I've done this before when I had 3 bodies (but now I'm back down to 2)... I triggered it with my pocket wizards.

The XT is quiet. You could muffle it more by draping a shirt over it though.

"You could muffle it more by draping a shirt over it though." I will try that first. I don't know if that's going to muffle much of the sound though. Might have to do something like this (http://silentpenguin.blogspot.com/2008/06/kyles-sound-blimp-tutorial.html). From some of the things I've read there is a lot of sound that comes from the lens barrel itself.

Where are you placing this camera? On the bride's tiara???? Dude the XT is not loud. At all.

I tried the shirt idea and it does somewhat suppress the noise from the shutter, though it is not enough if the camera is going to be firing 15 feet or so away. There is still too much distracting noise.

Have you stood 15 feet from it and fired it while talking to yourself in an addressing voice like the minister is going to use? I can assure you the camera is not going to be distracting. First of all, they expect a camera to be clicked. Second of all, it's one of the quietest SLRs made. My 1D II clacks a helluva lot louder than an XT and nobody is bothered by that.

You maybe right. For me though it still seems too loud for being that close. Maybe its just because I am more in-tuned to hearing the clicks that they stand out.
