This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.
Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.
The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.
The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.
You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.
If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #175".
This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
This round will end Tues 4/7 at 10:00 PM EST
Ok so I had no clue what photo to do. It was either a portrait, DC shoot or this. I thought this one would be different so I hope you like.

I tried to give this a moodier look. I first made a duplicate layer and put it into multiply mode and masked the armor. I merged this with the backgound layer, duplicated it and then used the render lighting effects filter with the background layer as the texture channel. Added a layer mask to this and made a little adjustment to the vignette. Finally I added a curves layer for a final adjustment.

going for an old look and I thought the armor would look better un-rusted:

I did this a few hours ago but didn't have time to post then, hope I remember all I did.
PSE6: Selected armor and adjusted curves/levels until they looked less rusty. Added additional layer with hard light blend. Flattened, adjusted contrast, shadows, highlights. convert to B/W.

I ended up doing a lot more with this than I planned because I couldn't get a straight edit that I liked.
This is supposed to be a first person view of a knight looking through his helmet.
- levels (to darken) adjustment and bumped contrast
- ran a lomo look action and applied it to the armor using soft light blend mode, and at a lesser opacity the bench and under the bench
- shadow: took an image of a knight, cut it out, filled with black, gaussian blur, then opacity adjust. broke it into two layers (upper and lower) then went through a bunch of iterations of scale, perspective and warp with the transform tool until I was satisfied with the position.
- still thought it looked boring, so I ran TRA (totally rad actions) Rusty Cage action, Dirt Bag texture (multiply blend mode @20%), then because it looked a little soft ran TRA Troy action and set layer to 75% opacity.
- Darkened the edges a bit and added grain.
- mask: took an image of a knight helmet, masked out the eye holes, transform: scale and perspective, masked levels adjust to darken, texturizer filter because I thought it looked too smooth.

Fantastic edits everyone!!! It was very very hard for me to pick a winner because I liked ever single edit and could not find anything I didn't really like about either one of them. I'm sorry I won't be able to write little notes about each one because I don't have time to since I spent the last 23 minutes going back and forth throw all of them to figure out who a winner was.
I do have to say though Ocron your shadow was awesome!!
The winner is Lore!! I guess I have a thing for the more darker images ^_^
Congrats to Lore and everyone else on the fantastic and amazing edits.

Grats Lore :)
Ocron, that edit was impressively creative. Totally could have been a game scene.
