I've never been there so can't help you with that but in UAE (esp Dubai) there are lots of restrictions.

Bahrain (or most of the persian gulf arab countries) are not camera friendly.
Anything bigger than a P&S could put you in trouble, unless you're a lady photog, which they wouldn't mind that much.
