Elephant and Polar Bear from Seneca Park Zoo

I remember when I was young the elephants were shackled to the wall inside a concrete stall. Now at least the have a large outdoor area with lots of stimulating toys. Still doesn't seem big enough. This one seems a little bored with the tire.

Nice pics. I know what you mean about the cages being to small - how can an elephant have enough space in captivity when they roam over hundreds of miles in nature? I always feel sorry for them.

NAfrican jumping snails - a close cousin to the hissing variety.

I'm from Buffalo. I haven't been to the Buffalo Zoo in quite a few years but I hear that the new director is doing a fabulous job, considering the crisis in Erie county. You'll have to let me know how it is.

The elephant looks sorta like a sad old woman, though i'm not sure why.
