I'm pushing my 300mm to the absolute max with distance and low light, I know, so I apologize in advance for quality, but I sure can't identify this guy by silouette alone. Golden Eagle? Cooper's Hawk? Red-Tailed Hawk? Which of these hunts at dusk, rides the thermals, and will hover for a few secs at about 300 feet? Can you identify?

I'm guessing Kite?

I thought so too at first, but a Kite has pointed wings and a much smaller beak than this appears to have.

That might be kite behavior, but the shape is more like a red-tail hawk.

No, Lazy, I don't think it's a kite 'cuz all the kites I've ever seen are tied to strings to keep the wind from blowing them away. It looks more like some kind of bird of prey. Hmmm

   Sorry, I couldn't help it. :p (I hope this doesn't get me banned for life. :( )
