I have been approached about doing the pictures for a Church-wide directory. While I don't have a problem with it, O was asked if I know of any software that would allow us to Build one, or any advice on it. I think I can handle the picture taking part pretty well, though I would like to have some actual lighting rather than just bouncing my flash. I will look into the cost of getting or renting some. Not sure how much I should charge, but I am strongly thinking of doing it as a gift to the church. But its still in just the idea stage so I haven't thought too much on it yet. Anyone know of software that can be used for this?

Software to make the entire directory itself? Personally, I'd use MS Word.

I would not ever charge my church unless what they were asking for cost more than I could afford.

I used Blurb for my two books, & POTN used it for theirs. This should give you some other ideas:
Hardcover Books (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=454887)

Keep in mind, you probably should use the soft cover version.

I've seen people use the "Contact Sheet" function of photoshop to organize the shots.

ugghh... doing all of that in MS word? I suggest Microsoft Access... but only if this is going to be like a digital copy or be email to someone or a group of people. If it'll be a hard copy, be better to use something like what PhotosGuy suggested.

I just got done doing my churches. I did not charge the church. I just sold what I could from each sitting. I did no more than 3-5 shots of each person or group. Now I will be giving the church a CD of pre cropped images and they will do the rest.

It would be hard copy.
