My favorite is the second one. Good work overall though.

+1 for #2. Very nicely done.

EXIF data would be useful for reviewers. #1 has too shallow a depth of field, and the man seen side on like that, a shifty-eyed look forced by the position of shoulder, looks like the stereotypical prison mugshot. Child's dress, expression, direction of gaze - all lovely, and the focus around the eyes is excellent. But, would consider framing a little looser, having the whole ear and top of the ribbon. #2 is really nice... especially flattering the toddler, as she's comfortable while the other's showing the "getting close to you" posture and effort a little. Maybe the lighting is a little flat across the face and front of the dress, but all up really I wouldn't feel the need to change a thing. Cheers, Tony

Tony thanks. I would have liked to get more dof but I was not sure what appature to keep the girl in focus but blurring the dad. I have tried to shoot at 2.8 or 1.8 at that range and the dof is good but I can't keep as much of the girl in focus. help.

Sorry - didn't express my idea well. What I was thinking is that it might actually look better not blurring the dad... that's part of the reason he comes off very much second best. By using a smaller aperture and getting them both in, it would promote them to be more equal partners in the shot... allowing the suggestion of a stronger bond between them, and granting him parole... at least, I think it might :-). Perhaps the lesson is what I do when I'm taking a photo I really want to work - hedge my bets doing it both ways then decide what's worked at my leisure on the computer monitor.... Hoping to see more of your work soon, Tony
