I only have an alienb800 with a medium softbox for additional lighting. I do not have an external flash... Since this is a light that needs to be on a stand and not very mobile, will it be ok for a wedding shoot?

Or do I need to invest in a more mobile light?

Weddings isn't something I do, I've done portrait and macro shots... But the opportunity may be coming up to do a wedding!

Is it possible? Yes.

Would I do it? No.

The wedding day moves to fast to be strictly limited by a studio flash. Missing shots because of that shouldn't be an option.

Nope, it won't help when you're out and about. It might be helpful for the reception, but unless it's a huge venue an AB sticks out like a sore thumb, and you want two of them. You need a hotshoe flash and don't forget the backup equipment (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=255604).

You *CAN* do it but I sure wouldn't recommend it, especially if you are not accustomed to shooting weddings.

If that's all you had and there was no way around it, leave the softbox home and fire the AB barebulb, or use the reflector dish and bounce off the celing and/or walls.
