From what I see so far, I like it. Just because it is simply and very clear cut. The colors are a good choice because the black border along the outside will draw the visitor's eye to the subjects. My only complaint is to loose the landing page (the page where the user has to click to enter) Down the line you will have issues with SEO and plus landing pages really aren't that much a buzz now-a-days.
Have you decided how you are going to implement the actual gallery?
