I've had CS for a year now. :-) Is CS2 worth the upgrade?

I'm kind of pissed that they've already announced that newer versions of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) will not work on CS, which in itself will probably force me to upgrade. They added curves to ACR which is a big plus, and they supposedly improved the RAW workflow. Adobe Bridge looks pretty nice too.

I have CS so I'll wait a bit to see user reports first. If ACR 3 has improved greatly then it would be worth it to me.

I'll wait for the reviews. In Australia, it's not available till early May anyway.

There's some features in there that sound attractive to me: better RAW file management and conversion options, one-click healing brush, improved shadow/highlight tool, and the File Browser now expanded into Adobe Bridge (as if Adobe didn't already have enough product names on their catalogue!)

But at AUD$350 for the upgrade... I'll wait for the reviews.

Guess I'll order it.

I have three cameras, a bunch of lenses, several CF cards, and so on. The only thing I use on every single photo is Photoshop. I guess that means I might as well have the latest and greatest.

The new RAW processing elements are 'supposed' to be worth the upgrade alone.

I'm frankly disappointed with ACR. Pixmantec's RSE is something I've been playing with for the past couple of days and it truly surpasses ACR in image quality and detail. I will stick with RSE.

I've seen the other upgrades in CS2 but frankly there's nothing major and, I don't think they are worth it to me.

Yes and I like it a lot but the new CS2 RAW interface looks nice as well, a big improvement on the current browser.

Absolutely and when(?) the commercial version of RSE arrives - should be something!

Just like I've sold my soul to Microsoft (XP, Office), I've sold my soul to Adobe (Video Suite, Creative Suite).

Purchased the upgrade.

Just pre-ordered my copy. I'm so full of PhaseOne's buggy software so I'll be trying to get along with just PS.

I bought Photoshop CS (full version) in Feb 05, and I just talked to Adobe about the upgrade to CS2.... FULL PRICE. Kind of dissapointing, considering that I would have gladly waited the 2 weeks until March (their cutoff for the free upgrade), but I had no idea that CS2 was on its way. I also have a Rebel XT coming, and from what I understand, ONLY CS2 will support RAW from the XT. I guess I'll pay the $150 upgrade for a program that I bought 6 weeks ago. :(
