I am posting this here because I basicly only shoot sports. I am looking to buy a new backpack which is great for sports. My gear is in my sig and I like to carry everything with me. And I am looking to get a 70-200 2.8 in the near future. Please write back and include links if you have them thanks in advance.

I just picked up a thinktank shape shifter backpack the other day-- for two bodies and three lenses and so far so good.

On thing to consider... backpack might not be best idea. It depends what kinda sport you are going to shoot, but backpack is pretty clumsy. Maybe you should consider something else then backpack, like for example Lowepro Sideline shooter.
PS: Here's something I wrote (http://blog.photo.si/2007/11/16/photo-bags/#more-69) long time ago about bags, backpacks, pouches and other stuff :) Even if it was written a while ago, I still use pretty much same equipment, except Nature Trekker got changed for Photo trekker.

I use the Kata pack and love it for what it is but agree with Primoz, they are a bit clumsy. I wind up pulling most of my gear out during an event an carrying it on my person in some fashion. FWIW, in my Kata, I pack:
1DMkII
70-200 f2.8
24-105 f4
15mm FE
1.4x TC
Sigma 530 flash
Viv 285 flash
3 extra batteries for the 1D (these things are huge)
Skyport trigger and receivers
bunch of misc stuff (filters, creds, CF cards, mini pod, etc
I strap a monopod or tripod to the outside and the throw it on my back. Only thing I can't fit in there is the 300 f2.8 which has its own little case so as not to have to mingle with the commoners (lol!)

I recently switched from a backpack to the Think Tank belt and modular pieces. I got tired of taking my pack off constantly.

The best advice is probably to head to your local camera shop, browse their selection, and get a feel for what you like and what meets your needs. Just because a certain brand, model or style works for one person doesn't mean it will work for you.
Having said that, and FWIW, I use a Lowepro Mini Trekker. I prefer the backpack for most situations because it has the room to carry what I need for a particular shoot while being comfortable to "wear" whether I'm walking cross-country, heading into the rink, or both. It can be awkward at times but I'm not constantly digging into it, either. I never carry all my gear - usually one body, two or three lenses, maybe a flash, and a couple of accessories, that's it.

The only backpack I use is the expedition 7x from tamrac.. but i rarely take that to sporting events... I usually shoot with my crumpler...

That is what I need. I met a guy when shooting some birds over the weekend and he had this belt system, quite nice, IMHO.

I use a Tamrac Expidition 7x to hold all of my equipment but use my Tamrac M.A.S. belt system when I shoot. I can choose which lenses and body case to use depending on the situations. The belt system works great for quick lens changes.

I second the no backpack comments. I only use one when packing distances not for on scene sports work. A bag is a lot easier to deal with.
I have a Crumpler 7MDH but am looking for a better/easier solution.

I bought the same one. And although is says airport compliant. I have my doubts. I was going to get the Think Tank harddrive but changed my mind because the tamrac was 25% off. I didn't realize how big it was until I got home.
On the plus side. The pack is very comfortable even when I tried loading it up with extra weight to simulate heavier lens and gears.

If you dont always carry all your gear to every sport shoot check out the lowepro fastpack 350!

I have a Tamrac Velocity 9x and it holds all of the gear in my sig. It carries like a backpack, but when you need to access your gear you can easily swing it around to the front without taking it off. It has some of the comfort and capacity of a backpack, and is easier to carry than a sling type bag IMHO. They also have a Velocity 10x which is bigger.

My backpack is a Pelican 1610. I can lock it up anywhere on the fields if needed. I have all my stuff with me all the time. And it doubles as a low seat or I can stand on it for extra height. My Pelican goes with me to every job!

I use a Tamrac 5375 for all the gear in my sig except only one flash, no cybersyncs nor pods. I use a 3" carabiner to clip it to chainlink fences or whatever else is around to keep it off the ground when I change lenses.
