Shot with 50mm f1.8 and a single large softbox. I added a reflector to fill some light on the other side this time except for the last picture which was had no reflector and was done with the 17-40. I've kind of been on a post processing kick lately, I'm sure I'll get over it in a while. The first less colored ones had a monochrome channel mixer layer added then the original background on top of that layer, blurred, and then set to soft light. The third is the same without the first making the B&w treatment. The last shot is just a channel mix grey scale conversion and some selective burning.

They are all about the same 45 degree angle on the right. The last one is allot closer though, almost just out of the picture to the right. It's a very large soft box, probably 3 feet high.

I love the first one! Every time I look at it, it makes me laugh. Reminds me of Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail---"Its a rabbit, with BIG Pointy fangs!"

1/125sec at F/11 ISO 100

That's why I got the softbox so I can get the better DOF....need light for that. :)

Very nice shots. My favorite is #4. Least favorite is #3. The skin seems a bit mottled.

All are good (if not a little dark/gothy for baby pics which are probably better warm and light)... Esp. the last one - great expression, but dried up a bit by the B&W.

Would carry much more payload in color I believe.

They are all very nice shots, regardless. I really do feel they suffer a bit in those tones, since they ARE infact babies and kids in such a pose as to inspire color and warmth, normally.

In my opinion anyway. 4 out of 5 from me :D 5 out of 5 with color.

All are nice, but #2 is the best. His eyes are so vivid and the detail is great. Perfect focus and sharpness: enough to see the detail of his hair yet keeping the rest of his face mellow. Nicely done!

Love the shots. The last one is my favorite what a great expression. Did you like shooting better with the 50 or the 17-40? Or does it depend on the circumstances.
