Which do you like better and why? Is there anything I can do to improve these in CS3 before I print them? Thanks!

I like #1, it has a lot of detail that keeps me going back to look for more. It would make a cool puzzle.

#1. Better sense of depth through the shot, far more interest.
#2 suffers from an interesting thing: if you removed the road - say cropping half way up the shot - there's unusually few visual clues indicating the distance from camera to the various trees in the woods. Why? the forest is dense enough that you can't see in far enough to see dramatically thinning trunks supporting a sense of distance; I can't even discern increasing shadow into the woods vs the trees beside the road, suggesting the sun is closer to the horizon than overhead and/or the canopy is still quite thick over the road. And you can't make out the canopy versus the lower growth to see it angling downwards in the distance, as the branches come out at all manner of heights and no blue sky shows through even at the top of the image. Theses issues of consistent brightness may be due to some brightness adjustments you've made in PPing, and/or that the greeny-yellow areas are slightly blown in places. So, in a way, the image looks flat despite the road.
Cheers, Tony
