These were all taken with my SD300.
I figure I should master this little P&S before I go and drop $$$$$$ on a nice SLR ;)

Some nice shots there, especialy for a P&S -
The one of the bridge is really nice, but has a lot of grey in it - so the first pic I have attached I have cranked it up a bit and burnt in some areas - it just needs some more oomph.
You could possibly even rotate a little and crop in a bit more - I had a go on the second one attached.... to nring out the line of the bridge without so many conflicting lines at the bottom of the photo.
Hope this helps :)

I love the texture in the second one. The last one is very interesting. Wouldn't mind seeing a couple more of the fireground shots.

Very Nice.. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more contrast though, and maybe brighting it up a bit.

Are you making these with the in camera effect?

The idea of the swastika in the lasdt picture is kind of insulting

I didn't find out until 2 days ago that taking pictures in color and then changing them to B&W with a channel mixer in PS was the better thing to do :(

I didn't find out until 2 days ago that taking pictures in color and then changing them to B&W with a channel mixer in PS was the better thing to do :(I asked because they are a very good demonstration of what the camera can do. I sometimes preview images in BnW on my son's S500 to see if the scene has got that "look" for BnW. Then I shoot it with the DSLR. You could probably do the same with your camera, save the DSLR part - just switch back to color mode before you shoot. Even better, shhot both and compeare your work to the camera's. As for doing the conversions in PS, I usually us the Calculations Dialog and a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer.
The idea of the swastika in the lasdt picture is kind of insultingTo comment on the previous accusation of anti-semitism, Bunuch: you are obviously just looking to start trouble. If it makes you that uncomfortable, then perhaps you should disconnect you computer and stay indoors. I think it is rediculous to assume that such a sentiment was intentionally added by the photographer.

Btw, the swastika would have the "arms" pointing in the opposite direction.

I've never been a comic book fan, even when I was younger, but the visuals in that movie were amazing
I AM however, a big Tarantino/Rodriguez fan ;)

Besides which, I think it would be a more interesting picture if it DID have a swastika in the chain link fence. As is I find it technically very nice, but not particularaly engaging. I flipped it in PS and I actually find it quite compelling. It reminds me of "American History X" - a highly violent movie with MANY images of neo-****s which nonetheless (to me) comes across as a powerful social statement about tolerance.
I don't think that a photographer should be afraid to comment on history - a swastika in a harshly lit chain fence isn't necessarily an endorsement of anti-semitism It may be a statement on how fascism and bigotry still exist in our modern age...or something.
Honestly, I recommend taking a look at it flipped the other way.
