I completed the Canon connection for the family yesterday. B&H has refurbished A60s for $99, so I got one for my youngest's 10th birthday. So she will soon have an A60, my older daughter has an A70, my wife has an A85, and I have my kit. The video stays with Sony, as I like the Digital 8 format for now.
Next I have to work on my Mom, but that might be tough, as she doesn't have a computer, and she likes the 'film thing'.
I'm curious what cameras other members have in their families - Canon, Ni*on, Oly. . .
Have Fun,

My brothers share the S400 and they have the i850 to print thier photos. My parents share the G3. I have the Rebel XT with the i9900 to print. I guess you can say that I have a Canon family too!!! And my dad has a really old Canon A300 (this is the really OLD A series Canon cameras).
I just recommended 2 A75 to co-workers....and my best friend owns the S70.
OH MY!!! I should work for Canon.

OOh, you reminded me - the All-in-one printer is an MP390 and the photo printer is an i960.
Then, of course, there is the F1, A1, and all the FD glass (7 lenses).
Geez, I guess I qualify as a good customer. :)

A60 is a great Camera! Don't ever let your daughter think that just because it is 2.0 MP that it is obsolete and useless to others cameras. Because the A60 rivals some 5 MP cameras, because the A60 is a very well built camera and is pretty much the same as all the A Series.

Don't worry - personally, I love the A series, and 2 MP will produce a fine 4x6 or 5x7, which is all the bigger I see her going at this stage.
I wanted to stick with the CF card, which is why I didn't go with an A510. Nothing against SD cards, but right now I wanted us all to have the same media. When I saw the refurbed A60s I jumped on it.

I have a 512 MB card for my A60, that is the best method for a camera like that, it takes almost 500 pictures at highest resolution and size and can print an almost (if not completely) flawless 8X10 also. It might be el cheap grande but it sure gives good value for the money.
I like it for two main reason, I have no money right now so any camera is better then no camera and the second reason is that I can carry it anywhere I go which I often do. Which is something you can't always do with a SLR around your neck. Also because it takes really good pictures!

I think Canon may still make some film cameras as well... not sure
My family is mostly Olympus and Pentax (film and digital)
Me old mum uses and loves my Old Oly C-2100UZ ;)
All our little clamshell 35mm pocket cams were allways the little Oly's
And the whole family has the old brick sh**house pentax Manual 35mm SLRs....
Seems me and my Aunt are the only Canonites.
I'll have to work on "Canonizing" more of them ;)

Pentax sux. Plain and simple I can not figure out why anyone buys Pentax. You could try eBay for a Canon Camera. Since everyone seems to be dumping their Film Cameras on eBay, it would probably be very cheap for a very good 35mm camera.

The Pentaxs I refer to are older than.. well probably you are.
They function quite well still,. and would most likely work well after a nuclear attack

Dad still shoots his A1. He won't touch digital (he's Herb Keppler squared), but is "intrigued" by the Elan 7 and the autofocus. Maybe I should give him my Elan II.
We just got Mom an S-410 - I'm a little jealous as this 410 costed less than half of what I paid for my 400 just 2 years ago.
Those folks with the bulletproof older cameras have real gems. The guy I sold my 10D to has 2 older manual Nikons and a Pentax ME-Super. All 3 are as well-made as my Canon FT. Newer cameras in general don't have that "feel" that the older ones give you. Don't get me wrong - the newer ones are much more sophisticated and offer great flexibility and speed, but they don't feel the same as the older ones. Even among my L lenses, only a couple have anything close to the smoothness of my Canon 50 mm f/1.8 FL lens.

My wife has the G3. My daughter had the A70 until it went bonkers with an E18 error. Now she has the A510. My son has the A400. My brother has the DRebel and my sister has the G6. The only family member without a digital camera is my mother but then she has the Canon Zoom 115 film camera. :D

I'm curious what cameras other members have in their families - Canon, Ni*on, Oly. . .
Contax, Hasselblad, Nikon, Pentax
But there's only one common brand name among us -- Canon.

I gave Mom her current camera, so guess what brand it is? ;)
She is on her 3rd or 4th P&S after the T50. She used the T50, but she likes the smaller size of the P&Ss, so when it went toes up she started getting P&Ss.
I have a digital photo frame all lined up for her for Mother's Day, so after she sees how that works when I give her a CF card with a 'photo album' on it, she may get interested. Then, of course, there will be the computer lessons. She was a mainframe programmer/analyst, but she retired before she needed to have a lot of PC skills.
Always a new challenge . . .

Well, I have PowerShot A75, my mom has A300 and my sister has Nikon Coolpix 5700. So iwe have mostly Canons out here. If you take into account previous digital cameras, those being PowerShot S10 an my sisters A70, then it's even more Canon. And there might be more Canon coming as I'm now considdering of getting an EOS 350D with my summer job money. :D

So you're sister has a rebellious nature? ;) You should counsel her on that!
Just kidding, of course.

My wife uses whatever disposable the store she wanders into, on those rare occasions she wants to take a picture, is selling. How's that for brand loyalty. My sister, on the other hand, inherited the Canon (FD) stuff I interested my aunt in, and has some of mine on loan. Her husband has a Noink, and their digital is a Minolta.

Well now that you mentioned it, she used to be very rebellious when she was teenager. :D There was quite a lot fighting between my mother and sister back then. Fortunately she has gotten more calm now that she's a bit older.

Hmmm, this has me thinking....wonder how long it'll be before Canon and other digicam makers combine a digicam and a little dye-sub printer so that one essentially ends up with a digital equivalent of a Poloroid camera? :D

Sure you can, but I think you'll need to have it registered and wait out the mandatory 3-day waiting period.

Beside my older film stuff (not bad at all, I still have a Leica R3 with quite a few lenses) our digital world is fully Canon. I have my own kit, my wife got another Ixus 500 and she is planning to move to DSLR. I suppose that another XT is coming in, sooner or later. No kids, so thats it. My Das sticks to his compact film Olympus and to his Leica IIIc that is still in excellent shape.
Plus, I have also a Canon scanner, just for brand loyalty :D And am planning to exchange my Epson Stylys Photo 900 with a Pixma of some sort (not choosen yet).

I have an old Pentax K(something). Haven't used it in a number of years but let me tell you it was the camera of its age. Many people still use them. For a fully manual film camera it was superb.
My son now has my 10D, my daughter a A85, both my sisters also have an A85 (thanks to me last christmas). I would say that my family is fully enshrined in Canon.
