P-2000 Firmware upgrade

I had upgraded my P-2000 to firmware 02.02 which gave me support for my 20D.
Unfortunatelly firware has a bug.
It changes sort order of files from Name to Date last modified!
This small sort order change has caused my P-2000 to be useless for picture presentations (sllide shows) as there is no way that we can sort files later on.

I have sent e-mail to Epson technical support and after some arguing they have confirmed that they are investigating problem. And there is no way to dowload original 01.01 firmware.

So I propose that you do not upgrade firware to 02.02 if you realy don't need support for new cameras. Simply wait for newer firmware update.

In any case, please let me know if somebody else has upgraded his P-2000 and how it performs.

I have downloaded the firmware but haven't installed it yet.

What did the upgrade do to improve support for the 20D? I thought it was targeted at supporting files larger than the 20D produced and that it supported 20D files fine before the update.

I was planning on getting one this week and one of the uses was for slideshow presentations. Please let me know what I will be missing if I don't do the firmware update.

I've already upgraded mine - so I guess I'll wait for the next firmware update.

Since I got it as a storage and field viewer device, I'm not too bothered about the sort order (which in my usage is the same as before).

Firmware 01.01 does not support RAW files from 20D (as have undrestood from few reviews).
New firmware supports files taken with senzor size up to 17,8megapixel (still only JPEG over 8,9megapixel can be rotated).
Also gives histogram at JPEG picture preview (over all bottom half of screen, very nice!).

My p-2000 just arrived. Ver. 2.04 already installed, which is the latest (today is:10-11-2005). Everything works as advertised. Screen is beautiful. Zooming shows amazing detail. Sound isn't worth much for either volume or quality. Maybe earphones?

Will report back when I've played more (battery is charging).

BTW, everything you could possibly want to know about this thing is on EPSON's web site. Including Firmware and manual(.pdf) downloads.

otherwise, congratulations on your purchase. It looks like a really nice thing to have, and is next on my list after a 350d and a few lenses :D
