Hey all.

Figured this is the best place to ask (maybe the flash/studio section?) so I'll keep it brief. Have a shoot next Monday where the model (and myself) are keen to do the whole milk bath/appearing figure thing. So what do I use for the liquid?

I figured milk's actually a stupid idea, as A) it'd take half the milk NZ's got over an Easter weekend, and B) how the hell do I warm it up so the model doesn't freeze to death?

Best suggestions so far have been warm water and dried milk powder, and watered down emulsion paint, which although being a better suggestion, is still a bit inplausible.

So...

Anyone done this or assisted on such a shoot, and care to offer advice? Hugely appreciated. :)

I suggest the *water based paint* option!

Make sure its water based too!

Its cheap enough aswell. i would fill the bath half up with luke warm water first then slowly add the paint to it, mixing as you go! untill you get the creamy effect your after!

i would also recomend the model to have a shower afterwards too as soon as she can!

The real milk makes a right mess, and if not cleaned out properly the yeast in the milk will make your model have a few girl problems afterwards too!

Eitheway expect it to be messy and fun :D

stay away from milk powder too as that will try and dry like glue i expect!

water based paint mixed with water you will be ok!

pre warn your model that if she has an outfit it might get ruined too

sounds like fun let us see some pictures afterwards

Thanks guys...

Some good points raised there actually, and after ****ing myself at the thought of giving the young lady I actually bumped into a pharmacist/chemist who went off to make some potions. Essentially he totally said milk would be fine in terms of causing her issues, but did think even watered down paint would be a very bad idea, you know, down there...

So currently, I'm on a wing and prayer with some mix of hot water, some milk, and some milk bath crystals from a health and beauty place. (And a hint of Photoshop after).

Fingers crossed... :D

I wonder if Epsom Salts would sufficiently cloud the water to pass as milk?

I think that's what these spa bath crystal things are essentially... In 2" of water, although it wasn't white as such (duller than that) you couldn't see my hand at all. I hope it works!

Throw a strobe in with the model...

That ought to light things up! ;)
