Accidentally posted this in the wrong section. Oops. Anyway;

For spring break I'm going to Puerto Rico. I've narrowed it down to 3 locations that I know for sure I'll be going to; the caves, el yunque rainforest, and Old San juan. I have plans to bring either a tripod (going to be delivered tomorrow), and a monopod, but most likely not both, with the tripod weighing about 4 lbs and the monopod weighing about 1.5 lbs. I'm going to be doing a ton of walking. All my other gear is listed below.

My plan is to bring the tripod to the rainforest, where there can be very little sunlight sometimes, and I don't mind carrying around with me. I have been there before but not with my camera, and the birds there are usually very hard to photograph with the setup I have. So I'll be focusing mostly on stationary lizards, landscapes and insects as well as flowers. Would a fill flash be good for this situation too?

I plan on either bringing no tripod or the monopod to Old San Juan, as I can see the (relatively) large tripod getting in the way of pedestrian traffic, while the monopod will take up relatively little space. Usually, the weather is very bright and clear, so I'm not worried about it being cloudy, and the waterfront is great. There's two huge spanish forts from the renessiance; very cool stuff.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I should do in the caves. I think I might be going on a guided tour, so a tripod might not be available. I'm definately thinking flash, but at the same time, I don't think a little flash will cut it for a giant, 50x100x90 ft. cave chamber.

If any of you have experience with these areas in Puerto Rico (or any similar situation), feel free to share. I'll take any advice you have.

I visited Puerto Rico last month and took a lots of pictures. The old military forts are great opportunities to shoot some HDR's since theres no movement and lots of background color. I didn't visit the caves but I did manage to drive to El Yunque (I'll never drive there again!) and enjoyed taking shots of the rainforest.
