Extension tube?

I have an older Canon Extension tube (EF 25). What is the difference between it and the newer Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II.

Also, if I buy an EF 12 II will it work with the older EF 25? Or do they both need to be the same? Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the difference is that the new version is compatible with EF-S lenses and the old one is not.
