Here is my first try at a baseball card, I started out planning on just a simple background and got carried away as usual.... Ignore the actual picture in it, it was taken at ISO 1600 on an XTi with a 55-250 in low light so it's not the best I was just using it for mock up purposes. Overall I like the card but the top of it feels unbalanced to me for some reason and I can't seem to come up with anything that I like.
Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

Looks good. I'd move the "2009 Little League" to the top of the card and also include the league name. That way you'd fill up some more of that dead space. I might try the league name near the top and the year along the right top border of the photo.
I'd also add the player's position along the bottom - either just inside the white border, or right on top of the white border.
Just my initial thoughts - nice job though.

Well you might want to try having the ratio of the image the same ratio as the actual card. I'd also think about having the image larger and the Cubs logo overlapping the image's top left corner and add a drop shadow.
The team's name or league near the top edge right justified.

Maybe add his player # or position in the upper corner. Nice concept though.

I would switch the name position with the 2009 Little League.... In place of 2009 little league you could put the actual name of the organization. Under the name you could put position(s), batting average, etc. (whatever highlights the player)

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I am going to work on a couple of different layouts tonight and see what I come up with. I was running into the proverbial brick wall last night. I will post up the results and see what everyone thinks.

I like it, maybe you could shrink the cubs logo a little bit, move the image up and put the players name directly underneath. I might just put 2009 at the top and leave "little league" out of it altogether.
Or you could put his name at the top, 2009 on the side where his name currently is but use a larger font so that it takes up the same amount of space, and then list his position on the bottom. Just my .02

Well you may run into two problems if you plan on printing/selling these to parents.
#1 - The Cubs logo you'd need permission from MLB.
#2 - The name "Little League" - believe it's trademarked like the Cubs logo and you need permission as well. Don't quote me but I think no leagues are supposed to use the name "little league" unless directly affiliated with them. If they are affiliated with LL then there's a whole new set of rules & regulations they have on images which is on there website I believe.

I was thinking the same thing, Mike is correct on both points.

I was wondering about the Cubs logo with them using it already on their uniforms and how much it would cost to use it, it will probably get replaced with just "Cubs". I was not aware of that with Little league but it's just their as filler until I find out the actual league name.
Thanks for your input!
