Elvis..... my rescued standardbred that is!
He is 5 and I got him last year from the meat auction. Im working him now and have been riding him since June :D
I want to learn to take good horse photos since I have 10 horses and a donkey.
Please send any suggestions or critiques :) Thank you, I appreciate it :)
(Next time Ill brush him before I take a pic...)

Jessica please post the colour version too...
It seems to me that is a little too over-sharpened. And also that the highligts are a little to brighty.

Try to play a little with levels in Photoshop ( o any software are you using ).

The crop is excellent for me.

I think you are right. He was dirty too. But I did oversharpen. Ill show you the original pic I had taken... its pretty ugly :D
Parden, I took this one in B/W sorry, but I did a crap job and just decided to crop it to see how it would look. But it would probably look better if I sharpened it less or darkened it maybe?

Just played a little with levels (Adjust levels) and after that just a little increase of contrast.

For sepia version I've used PhotoFreebies which is a freeware plugin for Photoshop (http://ThePluginSite.com).

I hope this will help. :)
