Sorry, never thought that foggy would be so difficult..

The aerial (TV broadcast antenna) on top of the mountain. Shot from the balcony with the Canon 75-300 on the XTi @300, cropped a bit and increased contrast. I rarely use this lens but that morning was a rare occasion.

Is she a Wheaton Terrier?

Yes, a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Wheatens were breed to be an all purpose farm dog, and they are a lot more calm, less hyper than your vermin catching terriers. She is the best dog I've ever owned/adopted. Wheatens don't shed, rarely bark and are the most benign and loving creatures God has created.

Was your position eliminated?Yes... without going to political... The NC Legislature is making SIGNIFICANT cuts to Early Childhood programs, public education and others. The funding for my position will be lost effective June 30, 2011... :( I'm heartbroken as I LOVE my job... And I'm heartbroken because of the massive changes to the early childhood systems that are proposed likely means I won't have an easy time finding work... I've been on the job hunt for almost a month... and nothing but rejection... either because we're not hiring because of the budget.. or because I'm not qualified for jobs that aren't really in my field...

Now, that sucks! That's 3 POTN'ers in my small circle that have lost their jobs this month.Yes... yes it does suck... I am devastated... In my circle of friends, my significant other lost his job 18 months ago... 2 friends face the ends of their position as the company they work for is moving to another state... a childhood friend lost her job 6 months ago... then there's my POTN bud who lost her job too... and I have many friends and collegues who are waiting on pins and needles to see how the budget is approved in NC... they may fall the same fate I did... :cry::cry:

The cuts were done in on a 15% basis... what is proposed is now 20%... that means more people in the county *I* live in will lose their jobs. The cuts may actually cause services to young children in some smaller counties to completely go away...

We are in a bit of a slump right now as well. My income (commission) is down about 50% from the high times. Wife has been out of work for two years but we are still managing as I do pretty well. I'm hoping once our election is out of the way the economy will heat up again.

Thanks Geno... I'm increasingly concerned... The jobs that I have applied for... either decided not to hire due to budgets or just flat out turned me down... I have had two careers... so I'm searching in both fields... but one career I've been out of for almost 10 years so it's hard to go back that direction...

For me... it's a huge change... I'm single mom of 2 boys... I don't have any other income to rely on... :(

:| I dunno. It's hard to dismiss a life crisis moment, such as primary breadwinners losing their jobs, in such a way. To me it seems callous to say "work at mcdonalds". People will do what they have to do to survive, but somewhere in there, compassion by their companions, seems to be more called for. That's just me though.

It's tough times and I truly hate to see people going through them. I wish you all well.

They were having Civil War Days when I shot this. It's rarely heavily populated by "actors."

There are parts of Wool's neighborhood where Civil War Days were probably just after dinner tonight!

Actually, I didn't even think about the time period Vs the event because so much of AZ's history is concentrated between 1870 and statehood in 1912. The mining boom of the 1880s-1890s is just an easy number to regurgitate.

By the way, that's going to be by suggestion for our Centennial Motto for next year:

"Arizona! We're still new at this so come back in another hundred years!"

Very good memories from the 30 years anniversary meeting of the '79 Class Science Option of the 2nd Boys High School, Kavala, East Macedonia, Greece.

Shot in our old classroom with the P&S, the building was built back at around 1900 in the Ottoman Empire days.

We are 50 yrs old by now, most of the collegues are Engineers, Professors and teachers,
all facing the economic crisis.

I am very sorry to hear all these economic crisis things that are global.

We are facing an enormous debt of 150% of our GDP, the government has cut all salaries by 25%, the social welfare sector is facing enormous cuts and degradation of services offered, most employes are being retired fearing the worst, unemployment has raised to 15%, it was at around 6% before 1989 and the globalisation of the economy, the country in in depression, economic and emotional, frozen, noone buys a thing, so no enterprise sells a thing, the country is classified as 'Junk' for world markets, the bond spreads and CDS are rising despite the hard measures imposed by the IMF. This politics leads to more depression and debt, but they managed to help the banks survive by giving them money around 15% of our total debt! The banks that failed are the ones being favored from our money, while state economics are getting worse.

They say we must be patient and wait for the development and revenue from future exports. Since noone is investing and the whole world is having problems where are we going to export? Who is going to buy our products if no one has the money to buy?

I think the truth is they want the people scared, with no rights, easily manipulated, so as the capital owners wil control every country.

Sorry for the off topic but as you understand i am very angry from this situation and the difficulties of other POTN members. Good luck to all.

Second - my girlfriend and I have had a few conversations about the possibility of leaving the Island and going east to find the jobs... But we're going to hold on and give it another couple years. Lol.! Mini muffins.just the regular basic recipe, I add blueberries, flax seed, and then when kinda cool, slice in half and add your fav jam or jelly! I use those rubbery baking things....they are sweet!
Once you have a basic muffin recipe......add whatever you want.I make mean Franks Hot sauce, sour cream, cheese and cilantro ones!
