WinXP 64 should be backwards compatible with WIA drivers and PTP. What camera doesn't work with the current WinXP WIA driver, and which driver version are you using??

I have the Canon Digital Ixus. I believe it's name is powershot S100 (usa)

WIA Version 3.9.0.

Error win9x drivers not compatible... (This one DOES work with "normal" xp)

I'd just recommend you stick with win32 till they make that OS more stable.

It's not a matter of stability. It's a matter of releasing 64 bits drivers. I happen to have the RTM build of xp64.

Well, all i'm saying is that i played around with the gold version of XP64 and it was still pretty screwey. Not only are there few drivers out for it, but the ones that ARE out are flakey at best.

Considering you're not going to see much improvement running 64 bit over 32 at the moment, I'd just stick with XP32 for the time being till everything gets ironed out.

But hey, to each their own.

Well, since win64 is not offically out methinks canon (as other manufacturers do) will leave it's 64 bits drivers on the shelf. Or do y' all think they still have to develop those 64 bits drivers... Face the fact, 64 bits IS coming.

Anyhow, back to win32 as well here till they find the (wo)man who 's going to iron everything out :(

I agree with you on initial instability but the near future is 64 bits and we should push the manufacturers to develop for the 64 bits platform. I don't know about the compatibility between Windows xp64 and the next Windows Vista, may be this is the explanation: everybody waiting to develop for the new Windows.

I have read that Photoshop CS2 uses the 64 bits architecture so you can get spectular improvements in the image processing area.

I bugged Canon about WIA driver patch for Windows 64-bit and they relpied that they have no intentions of making any.

The smart ass that I am I mailed back to them was writing a bit of code that Microsoft is so kind to give them the object code for just for this purpose must be way to much trouble to get off their collective asses and write a days worth of code gee I wonder what Canon expects for thier money that they pay these engineers for. So D60 lovers we are on our own!

So, is Canon going to refund my money for this Rebel XT I just got which is, absurdly, not compatible with my Windows XP64?!?

I don't think using a card reader will help the EOS Utility function.
