I totally dig the yellow tiled bathroom shot! Her expression is what makes it though.

Thanks so much for all the positive comments!! I appreciate the kind words. As for the lighting in the shower, I totally lucked out with a frosted window on the opposite side of the subject!

Nice work, but this should be in the photo sharing section.

Hey Alex, thanks for the heads up. My bad! Can a mod move my post?

I'm really digging your photos.. very timeless. I like the USC shot. Did you tell her to strike a pose or was it just natural? A lot of times, I have to act out the pose to get the shot I want, but then again that's a part of trying to be a good lively/energetic photographer.

Wow fantastic set, every shot was very well done! I can't believe you got all these edited during the dinner!! How many of these shots were you using any type of off camera lighting?

Thanks,

David

Thanks everyone!! I'll be honest though, a lot of times, wedding images are a LOT dependent on the couple, venue, surroundings etc... they all came together for this one

Thanks,

I actually had about 180 images for the slideshow. It is really easy in lightroom. Just dump the cards and fly through the catalog.

0 off camera lighting. ;-)

kawter2 - Love the images...
but I have a question for you. For the images outdoors in front of the church would you mind sharing your flash setup? The images look very natural and not "over flashed"

setup = no flash ;-) Just 100% pure tasty natural light!

A few in the beginning i used a direct ray ring flash. I normally foof though. I'll go back and paste some shots and let you know the lighting type for my flash shots

crap that will take forever,

ok here is the breakdown.... In the actual hotel rooms, 0 flash as I had some good window light.

most of the lobby shots had the ray flash attachment. I was experimenting with it.. Normally I would just point the flash back at a 45 and totally bounce. If i dont get enough catch light in the eyes i put a stofen cap on. I try not too as much as possible though

then, no flash until the "first dance shot" I had to use the stofen cause the room was to large with super dark wood surfaces that didn't bounce well

4,3,2 to last shots (starting with me shooting between the crowd) were all 0 flash shot at iso 3200 @ 1.4

The last one is actually very yucky light but just threw the flash back on as I had already packed up

I hope that helps, IMO understanding how light falls and how to work with it is crucial,. But you have to be able to make it second nature so you aren't tied up in the technicalities of shooting. The primary goal is to be so free that you can focus on getting the couple to have a fun, relaxed and easy going session

I really hope that all helped. I'd love to help more if any one has questions.

I was going to ask you about the lighting in the 2nd image you posted; it looked at first like you used some kind of off-camera lighting, off to your left about 30 degrees. Then I looked more closely and thought maybe you'd just 'corrected' the exposure of the groomsmen to match that of the groom (using either LR or PS), since the face on the 3rd groomsman from the left looks artificially bright. Very nice B&W work, btw; is that all from LR?

do you remember your settings for #1, that one should get you 2-3 more contracts alone. excellent image.

Great pix!!! Question: howcome a lot of those pix are a little slanted? I'm just wondering and would like to learn something new.

All the photos are from LR and just click a few presets i have for the edits (sometimes i will bump exposure a tad if the action blows out the scene. Other than that i didn't do any "selective" edits on the photos. Actually come to think of it, it might be the batch vignette i put on them, darkening the groomsmen on the outside.

thank you! not sure of the settings off hand, but im pretty sure it was my 35mm and probably shot @ f4ish, metered the curtains and made them about 2 stops under exposed. Probably picked a generic B&W preset in LR

Not sure, I'm not one that really tries to execute a certain type of shot when im out. Most of my time is spent interacting with the couple etc and I just frame it too "look right" to me. Probably a lame answer but just the way my mind works.

I hope that helps :(

Good enough for me. :p
What I got is that it's basically your style. I just wasn't sure if that was intentional or unintentional so thanks for clearing it up. Great work once again! :D

After thinking about this, 1st of all you are not seeing a lot of the "formal" posed shots etc. So this is all the "artsy/PJ" stuff.. That said, none of them are cropped and/or rotated which does happen a lot when printing and placing in albums
