Hello Everyone. My first post. Bought a 350D a couple of days ago and I love it. Wanted everyone opinion on the next couple of lenses that need to go into my bag.

The camera shop was leading me towards the new Tamron 18-200 Dii

Again a newbie to the DSLR, but a quick learner.

Don't rush, read as much as you can.

If you have the EF-S 18-55 then tell the camera shop you don't need the 18-200.

Rather than go and get lenses right away maybe it would be worth just using your rebel for a bit and seeing what you enjoy photographing. Save your money untill you know what lens you feel you need next.

Although it is certainly worth picking up a 50mm F1.8, cheap, fast and sharp.

It's better to wait for a while until you know what you need or what you don't like about current lens.

For example, assuming you have the kit lens (18-55),
If you just don't like the image quality, you might want to try 17-40 or something similar, or a few prime lenses such as 28/2.8 + 50/1.8.
If you want something longer, 70-200/4 is a good place to start.
If you want longer, but also want to keep wide in one lens, Sigma 18-125 may be a good choice.
If you want to take portrait, 85/1.8 or even 50/1.4 or 1.8 are very good.
If you like landscape and want to go wider, 10-22 or Sigma/Tokina 12-24 may give you wider angle.
If you like macro photography, Canon/Sigma 50, Canon/Sigma/Tamron 100/105/90 are good place to start. Or even you can try extention tube set.

So, the first thing is to find out what you want or need that you cannot do with your current lens.
