This is interesting, not what I've expected at all with the economy at all, it looks very promising.

that doesn't look promising at all... All that says to me is that because sales are sooooo far down, and because they rape up on their margin on the pro bodies, their profits will have a higher % coming from said pro models. But their profits as a whole will be down.
Canon estimates profit at its camera unit will fall 4.7 percent. Cameras account for about 16 percent of the company's total sales.
Operating profit margins for Canon's single-lens reflex models are about three times more than for compact digital cameras, according to analysts.
basically on a whole they're losing money, but because the margin is better on what's still selling it's not all doom and gloom. Great, but how badly will this cut into development costs since I'd bet the DSLRs are also significantly harder to develop?
