Yeah - that's an after-rebate price of $3500 at B&H. If only I didn't want that 70-200 f/2.8 IS L first!

That is a big rebate on 1D Mark II, it makes you wonder if something new is coming down the pipe...

There is always something in the pipeline, so it could be that - or it could be to head the Ni*on D2X off at the pass. . .

That should take the realistic price for a 20D to down around USD$1200? Getting closer to the XT.

I'm so glad that I ordered a 20D on Monday; if I had waited for Friday I'd have to send in for the rebate. :-(

. . . and we've only got a week to order before B&H shuts down for Passover (Apr. 22-May 1), or suffer an interminable wait!

A little off topic, but anyone have any idea why we never get these kind of rebates in Canada? The only Canon rebate I've seen lately is if you buy a camera and a printer.

I believe June 2004. So if history is anything to learn from as far as release cycle is concern for this model, the next one isn't due until late 2006. DISCLAIMER: this is based on past history as no one has yet to be able to predict the future 100% accurately hehehhee :D
Damn this rebate, now I am gonna have to get myself that 1D Mk.II!!!!! SOME BEACH.

The rebate info is posted on Canon USA's Web site this morning.
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=PromotionsAct&fcategoryid=111
The products that qualify are listed, but the amounts are not. I suspect that they will be updating the info soon to include the amounts.
Have Fun,

If you "click here for a list of qualifying products", you'll get a PDF with the equipment and amounts. There's also a link to the rebate coupon.

Here's the press release from Canon USA:
http://www.usa.canon.com/templatedata/pressrelease/20050415_rebate.html
Nothing really different than we already knew, except something I noticed - there are no film cameras in this rebate, and the press release only mentions digital:
Baseball season, picnics, family gatherings and other outdoor activities are in full swing. Canon U.S.A. helps make it easy and affordable to capture and share memories of important activities and events with a digital camera system through "Cash In With Canon" Rebate Program from April 15 — July 15, 2005.
As trivial as this is, it may be an indication that Canon has truly turned the corner on digital. Film is dead - Long live the Pixel

US release date was April 25, 2004.........I got my camera on the 28th. My camera is almost 1 yr. old. It has been a very good year with that camera too. There is no limitations to the 1D MkII. If anyone has been waiting or saving to pick one up, now is the time. A great camera just became a great deal too.
Cheers,
Rob

Does anyone know if this rebate is being offered in the UK? Or if it will be at some point in the future?
CoolToolGuy

AFAIK, the UK has a 'coupon' promotion going on. There has been at least one thread about it on this site. Try a search and see what it brings.
