Cars/trains/planes/boats together. And motorcycles. I like the idea.

I support the motion.....its a great idea and certainly a genre to itself.

This sounds like "industrial" photography to me, ie, photos of man made, largely mechanical, objects. I like the idea! Cars are great subjects, I was just thinking about photographing my MR2 Spyder and wondering which forum to post it in. But, I would also like to try some pics of the mechanism in my grandfather's old pocket watch. Why not put them all in one?

I support the notion for any vehicle related photography. Wether it be land, sea or air.

... any chance it should be more diverse than vehicles....
What crossed my mind was "gear" ...

Just a thought.

I had once proposed 'Transportation' which I envisioned as including trains, boats, motorcycles, oceangoing ships, small and large aircraft, space ships, bicycles, cars, trucks, baby buggies, skateboards, and maybe even wheelchairs. The idea didn't generate too much enthusiasm at the time, but it was definitely thrown out there for discussion a few months ago. This is a rehash.

What? No Diesel Locomotive section to be kept separate from the Steam section?

(Everybody get him to post his favorite train shot!)

But this creates a quandary - If I shoot these: http://www.baltimoreducks.com/ would the shots go in the new category or the nature category?

(It might matter if I was actually posting images)

Have Fun,

I don't understand this obsession to categorise things. A good photo is a good photo. I vote (as much as there is any point in voting since this aint a democracy) NO.

I am finding that the sports section is getting cluttered with car shots that have nothing at all to do with sport but more to do with imitating advertising brochures. I like the sports section, but ploughing through lots of non-sports posts is getting annoying to the point I think I'll give posting in it a miss myself until it gets tidied up.

Even I am guilty of encouraging the stupid posts by responding. Slap my own wrists.

I'm all in for anything fast moving with an engine......should be separate from the sports section.

Especially aviation photography....plane spotting is huge and right now the best places to go to upload aviation photos is some place like jetphotos.net or airliners.net.

Lets make POTN an all encompassing site!!

A vehicle/transportation section would be a good break out.

I like it because I am currently trying to get permission to shoot the Langley 2005 airshow from the back side of the base (better sunlight).

Actually I am just trying to get permission to bring more then one camera/lens combo without large white expensive things dangling from a vest. They don't allow backpacks or large camera bags this year - they let me last year (stupid anti-terrorist measures - stupid idiotic moron terrorists). I apparently have to get a media pass, which I am working on getting on a freelancer basis.

T-birds will be present along with the new USAF toy (AKA Raptor, AKA F-22). Should make for some cool pics if I can remember what I did right and wrong last year.
