Yeah, the 18-55mm lens kit just doesn't cut it!
Does anyone own a wide angle around the range of 24-70mm that would have an f stop at least as big as 3.0 and actually look SHARP? I prefer staying under $300 if possible. :p Thank you so much! You all helped me purchase my 85mm 1.8 and I LOVE it, so please help with this decision too! :D

In the 24-70mm range with f stop larger or equal to 3 and within $300 is almost made possible by Tamron's 28-75mm f/2.8. Note that you do have to compromise on the 4mm short of your full requirements. ;)

I'll second the Tamron, nice sharp lens, even at F2.8

Eosster, that sigma (actually it's f1.4) looks like it could be nice on paper.
I got sick of waiting and got the Canon 28/1.8. Nice lens, but not the sharpest tool in the kit.
However, other attributes more than make up for that.

Hmmm...reviews seem very good on that Tamron and sample images look great too. That does fit on a 20D, correct? :)

It certainly does.
Search the forum, there's a lot of threads on the 28-75/2.8 and its sharpness. My lens is very sharp, but I still rather use it at f/4.0, because there it is tack sharp (even at 100% crops).
However, if you want a wide angle, you might look at primes (e.g. the Tokina AT-X 17/3.5 for about the same price)
Best regards,
Andy

Sigma makes a decent wide angle zoom if you are looking for a wider low light solution. Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC.
