I visited a reception site for an upcoming wedding. One of the long walls is all mirrors. Has anyone tried using mirrored walls for bouncing? Obviously, the light will be plenty directional, but I assume it will also be just as harsh as direct flash, no?

yes, the light will be harsh. Extra harsh actually, because it's basically increasing the flash to subject distance. But it will use much less power than a wall at least. There will also be many shadows being cast from anything in the flash path.

I've tried it once, not at a wedding, and it was terrible to bounce from because of the reasons Lloyd described. The wide angle diffuser on your flash might help a bit, but try bouncing from something else or using off camera flash. Shadows from people in the way are a pita too.

Got it; thanks, guys.
