Is there a way to too hook up my drebel to my laptop, such that every time I take a picture, the preview on my LCD is displayed on the laptop along with a big histogram?

It's a shot in the dark, I'm not expecting it to work but can't hurt to ask right? :)

What's wrong with the image + histogram you get on the LCD?

First of all, what is "real time" to you? You want the histogram before the image is taken or after?

If your laptop has a video-in port, you can connect the camera to the laptop via the video-in port using the video cable that came with the camera. Another option is to use a small LCD screen TV/video monitor to hook your camera to.
