How and where do you go to acquire a license to play music on a website you author? I'm getting one professionally done, and the designer says if I want music on it I have to go about licensing it through the author of the music just to be on the safe side (copyright concerns).

(Yes I took the hint; blog for a website= bad) bw!

If you're going to play music on your site, I'd suggest using royalty-free music from places like Triple Scoop Music.

And having the option to turn it off. I always find music on websites gets annoying quickly.

I'd say having it off by default, with the option to turn it on... Most people find music on websites annoying, unless its the artist page of a musician...

Yeah, that's probably an even better option.

Why would a blog for a website be bad?? There are more and more photographers going with a "blog" type of site.

It certainly hasn't done harm to Jessica Claire - http://www.jessicaclaire.net

Another anti-music vote. Many users will click away from a site the second they hear music. And definitely, if used, OFF by default, not on.
