Killer smile she has, I really like it. Well worth the $250US I paid for her 6 years ago!
These were both taken at Deepwood (local park/museum here in Salem, Oregon USA) in the after noon. I like the lighting on the both of them. She is standing about 75 feet in front of a green hedge in the first shot and about 50 feet in front of a building in the other shot.
Comments welcome.

Yeah, $250.00. Do you think I paid too much? Dang, I thought it was a good deal, she had a Bachelors Degree in Business/Information Systems, was 23, Genius IQ (yes, gotta check all the normal things http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif ) and never even on a date with a guy (no playing until married type deal).
What a bummer, maybe I need to look for one cheaper, and a little younger http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif Ani said that would be fine for me to do too, but the new one would have to help with the yard and housework.

No, no joke, why would it be a joke? Ani's brother is getting married and her (his fiancee's) folks want $2500.00 US from him... so maybe I did do ok.

whoa! ok . .. timeout! where is this that you have to pay a woman's parents in order to marry her??? Is this in Oregon or is this in another country? i'm sorry ... i just never heard of that before. Is it wrong for me to find it disturbing that someone would put a value on their daughter??? I am in no means trying to show you or Ani any disrespect, I just never knew that happened anywhere.

In Oregon? Are you kidding - the tax alone would be more than $250 in Oregon.....
Very nice pictures btw. DOF is incredible and the lighting looks almost like studio. And she is a very pretty lady who knows how to dress.

I'm lost here as well, I was wondering what the $250 payment was referring to and thought maybe I misread something...

Really? You have never heard the word:
dow•ry\"dau(-€)-rÈ\ noun pl dowries[ME dowarie, fr. AF, irreg. fr. ML dotarium, fr. L dot-, dos gift, marriage portion — more at date](14c)
1 archaic : dower 1

3 : a gift of money or property by a man to or for his bride

#3: Payment of money FOR his bride... ie buying her from her parents.
It has been around since the 14th century... long enough that most should know about it ? http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gifops:

In Oregon? Are you kidding - the tax alone would be more than $250 in Oregon.....
That is so true Dave!! Just a couple weeks ago I had to pay a $714.55 parallel parking tax here in Salem for Ani. * http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif
Very nice pictures btw. DOF is incredible and the lighting looks almost like studio. And she is a very pretty lady who knows how to dress.
Thank you, yes the sky was overcast just the right amount that day, the photos turned out really well, showing Ani for the beautiful girl she is.
* Parallel parking tax? You have never heard of that?
THAT is what HAPPENS when Ani decides she is going to parallel park her '93 Blazer (even though she has never parallel parked before) and backs the trailer hitch under the front bumper of a Honda SUV (WHILE the woman is sitting in her car blowing her horn at Ani to STOP!!) and then pulls ahead and RIPS the bumper off the Honda SUV.
ONE bumper, grill and labor at the womans body shop: $714.55 http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif That is 1/2 a new Canon 20D... what a waste of money parallel parking taxes are.

No problem on the history lesson, just one of those things that not many do in the USA anymore but still do in other countries Mark.
These are right out of the camera, just a crop and small USM. No skin smoothing or blur done to them.

Thanks Wavy! Yes, Ani is a pretty, cheerful person. How else could she be?? After all, she found me and asked me if I would marry her. Sometimes it is interesting being married to a young girl 5 years younger than my youngest kid. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
Yes, learning to drive, we won't talk about the angle parking $1100 incident or the $1700 changing lanes without looking incident, that might depress me http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif

Let me tell you, if she is like Ani, ONE is all this old man can handle... but Ani thinks we should get a young girl to "help" her around the house.
What would that be like, having a girl here that I am 3 times older than... it is interesting sometimes with me just being twice as old as Ani.

I don't know that, Ani approached me, just wanted someone to talk to while she was going to the University getting her Bachelors Degree... That was the 16th of June, 1999.
3 days after that she said: You are crazy, I love you. ... so a month later we got engaged... and on 15 June 2000 we got married and on 18 November 2004 Ani became a United States Citizen. Not bad for a pretty little girl from Thailand.
What a love story http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

1st one was 4 years ago, 2nd one was 3 years ago... she is learning... you have to remember, when she was lucky she rode the bus, otherwise she walked. She comes from a poor family, no vehicles, she had never even owned a bicycle before coming here. After she graduated she was making about $1 per hour over there, can't buy much with that every month since computers and cameras cost just as much over there in Thailand as they do here. I flew over there 31 Dec 1999 and bought her a computer w/ printer and had a private phone line put into her apartment so we could chat on ICQ and Yahoo messenger instead of her going to an Internet cafe after she graduated. Bought her a little Olympus camera for a couple hundred dollars... that trip cost about $4,000 with the stuff we (we, as in: I furnished the money and she spent it) bought for her.
All in all, about $10,000 spent to clear up her bills over there and get her here. So yeah, I'm a "lucky" man, the $250 was the "inexpensive" part of it http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

If I remember correctly we used a 30" Photoflex translucent to block the direct sun. Made the lighting just right without using any other reflectors then. We were really pleased with the way they turned out too.
When we get a couple bucks ahead we want to get some reflector holders/stands so we don't need "extra" people along.

A little word to the wise. I know someone who went to Thailand on holiday a few years ago, met a beautiful Thai girl, ended up marrying her and brought her back to Belfast. He was especially impressed that the girls over there seem to put keeping their men happy as a big priority in life. However, after a couple of years over here, she became friends with many other females living close by. They made it their priority to 'put her straight' about her priorities.
Now he's back to cooking, washing plates, doing the cleaning etc just like everyone else! :)

Not at our house! Ani said I can say I'm the Boss http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif She does the house work AND the yard work... and pretty much her likes/dislikes are the same as mine. We discussed all of that back in 1999 before we got married. It has been several couple years and she still doesn't have much use for the women over here and the way they act towards their men. I think probably the women like Ani are few and far between most of the time.
She does tell me: Brag about how cool I am Papason, http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif because I am.
Hey, that works for me!
