I recently passed a skatepark while out with my daughter, when I saw a guy doing some (to me, at least) awesome tricks. I approached him and asked if I could take some shots, to which he gratefully accepted and asked if he could get copies as he is currently trying to get a sponsor. Obviously, I agreed but pointed out that I had never shot a skater before so couldn't guarantee they'd be any good. Anyway, I spent the next 30 or so minutes shooting him (and his friends who just HAD to get involved, lol) doing a variety of tricks and he is really pleased with the results (so am I for my first results) What do you guys think?

Seriously? 64 views and not a single comment? Surely someone must have something to say?

I have something to say indeed,

On a few of your photos the horizon appears to be off they are slanted. Im not sure if this is the look you were trying to go for but I view it as annoying. Also the motion is blurry again I dont know what look you were trying to get. Also in a two of them it appears you are standing at the same level as the skater if not higher it isnt a flattering angle to take pictures at you want to be lower then the subject in sports and action photography. All in all its a good start take these suggestions and the other ones that come at you and improve on your shots you have the eye for the proper shot just not the results YET. Good luck

very nice shots for a first time. I like the angles you went for in the photos. a little more interesting than the straight horizon shots. I just think you might need more of their faces like in the second shot. they always wear interesting gear, but you gotta have a face to recognize the person :-D and they do seem a bit soft but that might be because it's a web upload? did you try using a flash for any of the shots? doesn't look like it but can't see too well cause I have a kind of glare on my laptop. but yeah, if you use flash try and get it off camera for some cool shadows work. and maybe clone out the street lamp in the fourth shot?
again, nice work. looking forward to some more work :-)

i also think more variety would be nice, especially if hes looking for sponsorship and using your photos. most of these hes upsidedown.
good start though. i know its hard. i did concrete park photography for the first time this weekend too.
