I have a Canon XSI and I am looking to post some of my pictures on a website shared with other photographers (smugmug). I am looking for a way to attach my name with my pictures. So far the only thing I seem to have been able to figure out was to add my name to camera or add name as author through windows (but it can be changed by anyone to anything else).
Thank you very much in advance,
Scott

The only option that you would have left to protect your photos would be to either use a watermark, but becareful because a watermark can take away from the shot if not properly positioned. The other option would be to simply apply a text layer in Photoshop with your name and position it in a spot that isn't too distracting. An example of the latter option is below. Let me know if you have any questions.

Another option (in Addition to the Copyright) before you display your photo on line you can use photoshop to reduce the photo to about 800 pixels on the long side then save for web and devices and again reduce the size of the photo to 80 to 100kb the photo will display very well on the web/computer screen but will only be able to be printed at about the size of a postage stamp complete with copyright without the quality being reduced to the point of being unusable.

... not necessarily so if the do a "screen grab". You can get "useable" images by capturing the screen.
Dont forget to also include the © or (c) in front of your copyright text, otherwise the text isn't actualy declairing your image is copyright.
