I've always liked pictures of two girls together... especially if they are sisters! These sisters are Sarah and Anne. I like this picture because of the way they are looking into each others' eyes, the slight tilt of their heads, the fact they are smiling at each other....

Was going to name the thread 'Eye to Eye', but 'Sister Secrets' seemed better because they appear to be sharing something, maybe a kind of understanding that can only exist between sisters.

Actually took this shot a couple of months ago, and last weekend had another opportunity to photograph Sarah. Posted some of the more recent pictures in this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67381&page=1&pp=20

Good composition :) and nice ideea...

Pitty that the right one seems a little distracted somehow. The left one have a more interesting expression.

i love it. the only thing that draws me from their faces is the bit of hand on the bottom right. it's very distracting to me. other than that it's a great shot! can you tell me your exposure numbers and how you had your lights set up? I'm going to try my first high key pic this week and i'm clueless.

thanks

Erika

Hi Erika

Funny you should mention the hand. I'd wondered about cropping the picture tighter, but thought the hand on the shoulder was an important element. Do you think they would look so much at ease with other without that?

The lighting was a single flash off to my left. To my right was a white wall, that acted as a reflector. My f-stop was around f8 and I've edited the picture to lighten it more. In fact, I did another version where I really burned out the highlights (below), but liked the first one better. What do you think?

Great shots. The first is my preference.

sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I re cropped it and i definately like the skin tones rather than the blown out look. see what you think. thanks for the light setup info!

Hi Erika

When I first looked at this picture I was tempted to crop it pretty much the way you have - to get a kind of a mirror image which I suppose emphases the 'sisters' thing. However I then thought it was important to see the shoulders and hand so a viewer gets to see how they are standing close etc.

I still feel it is a stronger picture that way.

But I do agree with you about the first one (with the skin tones intact) being better than the blown out look.

over all i think this is well shot and the women are beautiful, but to me this picture seems a little incestual, espescially since the one has no top on (or it is implied as such). even more so with the tight crop. maybe i need help..

lol - naw, she has a top on, just one of those low ones without anything over the shoulders....
