BB does what it says on the tin , converts raw files , what i am struggling to understand is why when the images are viewed in BB they are generally very sharp but when converted they aren,t . Am i doing something wrong or is a loss of quality normal ?

I don't get a loss of quality. Are you saving your converted files to 16-bit TIFF? If you are converting them to JPEG, you may be seeing JPEG artifacts.

BB has both display settings and conversion settings. It is possible that your disply settings are differing from those you chose when you convert.

BB allways uses the last settings used for conversion.. but not for display.
So if it is displaying internal camera sharpening,. saturation etc.. and the correct color space,. but these were not used in the previous conversion,. then all your following conversions will lack the same settings.

Thank you all for the input . As you say the settings somewhere are not the same , i thought it might be the difference between full monitor size viewing and the small BB window but a shame like i said so sharp before conversion .
