I like your color version, b/w seemed a bit flat so I played with it (hope you don't mind :)) ...

This looks pretty neat (would I mind if my avatar said image editing ok?:-D) I dont usually mess around with B&W but I thought I would have a go at it. I entered it in a bi-weekly challenge on another forum where there frown on more then just basic PP.

I see you bumped the contrast more then what I did, I feel some of the highlights may have lost a bit of detail with your edit though. I still like it (but the mom might not) :-)
