I was shooting today and noticed a click or clank noise if I moved the camera upside down?

Im hoping nothing is loose internally. Its a very mild low noise but definitly there and difficult to pnpoint its origin- I changed my lens out and it still is making the noise?

thank you

i think its the switch that detects if the camera is tilted.

There are two sounds that you hear if you shake the rebel. The metal brackets that support the built in flash and this little device that tells the camera if it's in the vertical or horizontal position (for rotating pictures automatically).

No, not the noise. Date/time function - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=62178

The noise is normal.

The only noise I hear is from the built in flash hinge assembly. When I pop up the flash and hold it firmly so it doesn't move, there are absolutely no sounds from my Rebel XT when I turn it upside down (or any other direction, for that matter)

There you go. What Mycroft said. Try that. If the noise goes away, you're fine, we all hear that. If it's still there, then it seems to be something the rest of us don't hear/have.

Well, I hear a noise...Like if there's a small little tiny ball inside of a capsule at the bottom left part of the camera.

My camera has had no problems. It has no dead pixels, hot pixels, didn't come with dust on the sensor, and has ran perfectly since I got it. Maybe it's good to hear something loose inside? :D

Jackal I do as well......no problems but there is a noise exactly like your description.

everyone with a noise beyond the flash hinge please post a note so we dont think we are crazy!

I would rather not send my camera in for repair if it is normal to have this sound.

I would like to know if I rotated the EOS the other way will it know to rotated the picture that way. For I'm a left handed shooter, I hope that doesn't make the picture up side down. oh btw I buying the EOS XT I just finding out everything about it.

Thanks

Yes, it knows which way you rotated it. It sets a flag in the EXIF data as to what's up.

LOL I know where you are coming from boomerang. I bought my 300d off ebay and when I got it I immediately noticed the noise. I thought I was screwed. After a little examination I fount it was the flash bracket. After some forum searching I found some threads that dispelled my fears.
