Folks, please consider reading Pasha Kuliyev's recently published Bachelor's Thesis entitled, "High Dynamic Range Imaging for Computer Generated Imagery applications - a comparison of acquisition techniques". Free PDF download made available through HDRLabs.

Although the document is geared toward shooting 360° HDRI environments for CG lighting, there is a wealth of information for almost every aspect of shooting for HDRI. I can't wait to dig in. If you are afraid of math, skip the scary parts - but it makes a good read and covers topics that we discuss regularly here.
