I think we could learn something by seeing what the local news is putting out on this story.

Hopefully the photographer is alright.

Reading some of those comments irked me a little. How many here accept half payment on delivery? Rather than full payment before you shoot?

Why is this a news story?
To me, the reporter comes out looking worse than anybody else in this, utter crap reporting and writing.

My regular terms include the final 25% of the package when they finalise the album design. Occasionally I offer to let people pay on collection, but that's rare and is only for extra pages not for their package.

There was a similar story that made the San Antonio media last year, IIRC.
Essentially, as I remember it (and details could be foggy) same scenario, a photog was paid in full but hadn't produced any images in a year-plus since the wedding. But it wasn't just one couple. There were close to half a dozen couples wanting their wedding pictures from this guy--they were begging for even just unprocessed jpegs on CD and he wouldn't respond. At one point, someone speaking for the photographer claimed he'd had a stroke and had moved to California to recover, but the TV investigators found a current ad for this guy running on Craigslist or somesuch. At one point he'd apparently been a well-respected photographer, but at some point just decided it wasn't worth the effort to deliver the images...
