Oh man, that is an awesome shot! Scariest snake I've encountered was a little gaurdener snake in my back yard a few years back. I grabbed the thing by the tail and it bit me. Fortunately for me they don't have much for fangs, and no poison at all. So, it was all good. I kept it in a cool animal tank for a week or so to look at it, then let it go.

BEAUTIFUL snake and photo! I love snakes. Looks like the diamond back rattlers we had when I lived in the interior!

Cool Shot. Probably a good thing you had that 300. And that you didn't step on it.

I'd have been reaching for a shovel or something other than a camera. The only good snake is a dead snake. I must say your bravery is noted for getting close to this creature.

I absolutely agree. There is never a mongoose around when you need one.

That is an outstanding shot. I like going after these guys but unforetuneately they aren't out here yet. I got myself a few shots of rattlesnakes last year and it is quite a rush to do these.

Great work.

So, let me get this straight. You took more than one shot.

Did you use your 300mm lens? I'm not sure that I could do that with mine.

I don't know if I would get that close to my wife. . . . let alone a critter like that.
That's what we call them down here in Florida. I mean the snakes. . . . . . not our wives. . . :D :D :D.

Anyhow . . . . . great shot.

Ditto this. Done alot of fly fishing in the high sierras and came across too many rattlers. Nothing a quick shovel blow wont fix. They are quite tasty though. I dont beleive in killing things if I dont eat them!

Oh excellent pictures. I dont think I woul dhave been reaching for my camera eaither. I nominate you for the brass jewels award!
